Age of Renaissance

Quick look by Moritz Eggert

I wanted to like this game more, as it was an attempt by the late AH to create an equally challenging game as Advanced Civ. without being as long as Adv. Civ. Well, this is also a LONG game (you still need a day to play the full campaign), and although the cardplay is very interactive, it (and the luck of the dice) make the game much less a feast for careful planners than one would expect. Luck plays a much bigger role than in Civilization.

Full of clever little mechanics, but one gets the feeling that this is like a tuned little Japanese motorbike instead of the graceful colossus that Civilization was/is.
